The Concentration Levels Of Fragrance Oils
By her-tips

Fragrance oils are the common ingredients to making perfumes and other kinds of fragrances. These are also commonly called aroma oils or flavor oils which are derived from essential oils to make fragrances. Fragrance oils are essential to all kinds of scent-based products. They are usually extracted from plants and animal and other organic forms of life.

Percentage of Fragrance Oils

The concentration levels of fragrance oils in different forms of fragrances are what make the fragrances different from each other. The fragrance with the highest concentration level of fragrance oils is the perfume. The amount of fragrance oils combined with a solvent is what makes up a fragrance. Perfumes have the highest concentration of these oils in them, around twenty to forty percent aromatic compounds. This makes perfumes longer lasting and stronger in scent compared to the rest of the types of fragrances.

Sources Of Fragrance Oils

Most sources of fragrance oils are from natural sources such as plants, animals and other organic life forms. Not all plants have desirable scents so not all are used for making fragrances. Some aromatic oils come from herbal plants while most come from flower producing plants. Not only the flowers are used to produce the fragrance oils from but also the leaves, fruits, roots, stems and other parts of the plant can be used.

Some animals have odorous sacs that are used to create many different fragrance oils. These animals include specific kinds of whales, beavers, civets, deer and even bees. Bees are not the direct sources of the fragrance oils but their honeycombs are. Other organic or natural sources are lichens.

Some aromatic oils can be made from purely synthetic materials. These are cheaper alternatives to the more costly natural sources of the aromatic oils. Many of these are derived from petroleum and coal or tar.
